BUILDING MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II #08-031                    $35,069 -$ 42,093

 

 

Responsibilities: Under supervision of a Facility Manager, as a lead maintenance worker performs a variety of preventative maintenance and repair tasks on county facilities and equipment.  Handles simple to the more complex repair tasks including routine repairs to plumbing, heating and air conditioning equipment; minor electrical repair functions for light switches, ballasts and outlets; electronic and standard lock assembly, repair and replacement; and electronic video observation equipment trouble shooting and adjustment.  Performs all stages of rough and finished carpentry and construction work, including erecting walls, panels and partitions, installing counter tops, and fabricating and installing cabinets and bookcases.  Performs repairs to all types of office environments, office equipment and maintenance machinery including: welding, small engine repair, painting, wall coverings, desks, chairs and other furniture.  Operates lawn mowers, snow blowers, plow trucks, salt spreaders, and other outdoor maintenance equipment.  Cleans assigned areas which may include offices, hallways, restrooms, and other areas of the facility. Safely utilizes various hand power tools and maintenance shop equipment.  Drives county vehicles for the pick up and delivery of freight and other materials.  Will perform other related duties as assigned. 

 

Essential Job Functions: With or without accommodations, this employee must be able to work in all areas of County buildings and properties while maintaining the buildings, equipment and machinery. Will walk over various uneven terrains, climb ladders and stairs and work in close, somewhat confined areas. Lifts, carries weights 50+ lbs., pushes and pulls objects up to 100 lbs in weight. Has exposure and contact with petroleum lubricants and products.  Stands, sits, bends, kneels and squats as regular daily duties for repair, replacement and fabrication of building facilities.  Will work in and have exposure to all types of weather and climate conditions.  Must have a valid Michigan=s Driver=s license, with a good driving record.  May require State certification in boiler and cooling tower treatments with in the first year of employment.

 

Degree/ Experience: High school graduate or equivalent education with some additional college level training required (1 year or more).  Possessing a Mechanical Contractors licenses and refrigerant recovery certificate a plus.  Additional skill training or technical education in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building trades areas preferred and desired (should include finish carpentry design and fabrication).  Three or more years of experience in total facility maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems required.  Preference for experience in modern building and facility operations.  Previous experience in lock smith abilities desired.   Must have a valid Michigan Driver=s license and a good driving record.  Driving records will be checked as part of the referral process.  You must be able to meet the standards of the Ingham County Driving Records Policy for referral.
