WHAT WE DO...

The Mid South Substance Abuse Commission members are appointed by the Human Services Committee for 2 year terms. The Commission plans, coordinates and oversees the delivery of substance abuse services within Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Calhoun, Jackson, Hillsdale, Lenawee, Shiawassee and Ingham Counties. This group develops comprehensive plans for substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation and prevention. It reviews and provides recommendations to the State Office of Substance Abuse Services on applications for license submitted by local treatment, rehabilitation and prevention organizations. The Commission provides technical assistance for local substance abuse service organizations and collects and tranfer data from local licenses, accredited organizations to the Office of Substance Abuse Services. The group submits to an annual budget request for the use of State administered funds. It evaluates and assesses substance abuse services within the region and accepts, disburses and administers grant funds for substance abuse service programs. The Commission appoints the Director. Receives per diem.
