METAL/TIN PUNCH GUIDELINES
General suggestions to help leaders
Have members learn terms and tools needed for metal/tin punch: awl, screwdriver, hammer, board, tape, tracing paper, paint for antiquing metal, liver of sulfur for copper, steel wool, lacquer for finishing, etc.
BEGINNERS (1 - 2 years in project)
Suggested knowledge/skills to be learned:
Learn how to trace pattern
Learn how to apply pattern to metal that is to be punched
Learn how to clean so no fingerprints remain
Learn how to antique and finish with spray
Learn how to finish project with frame, board, etc.
Suggested projects: simple, small projects (wall hangings, holiday decorations)
INTERMEDIATES (3 - 4 years in project)
Suggested knowledge/skills to be learned:
Suggested projects: painted punched articles, weathervanes
ADVANCED (5 years, up )
Suggested knowledge/skills to be learned:
Suggested projects: lamp shades, candle holders, lantern, match box holder
