OYC offers a variety of training for child caregivers and parents of young children.

OYC TRAINING SCHEDULE

OYC offers Michigan Child Care Futures training through funding from the Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC).  These trainings are FREE to the participants.  Basic Training is a workshop series including 16 hours of instruction, discussion and hands-on activities. 

In addition, OYC offers a variety of topics available under Fee-for-Service Training.  For a complete list of all OYC training, please click here for schedule.



T.E.A.C.H. Early ChildhoodŽ MICHIGAN offers scholarships to help child care providers to complete coursework in early childhood education and increase their compensation.  For more information on T.E.A.C.H. Child Care Provider Basic Training

The Infant Toddler training series is for family child care providers, child care center staff, foster parents, day care aides and relative providers, and others working with groups of very young children.  Includes hands-on activities demonstrations and discussions of techniques to work with groups of young children.  The Infant/Toddler series includes 16 hours of training in:

  • Social Emotional Growth and Socialization
  • Group Care
  • Learning and Development
  • Culture, Family, and Providers

This program is funded in part by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation (ECIC)

The general Basic training series is for family child care providers, child care center staff, foster parents, day care aides and relative providers, and others working with groups of young children. Includes hands-on activities demonstrations and discussions of techniques to work with groups of young children. One Lansing Community College credit is available as an option. Each series includes 16 hours of training in:

  • Commitment to Professionalism
  • Health, Safety and Nutrition
  • Child Growth and Development
  • Appropriate Activities
  • Guidance and Discipline
  • Parent/Provider Relations
  • Basic Business and Marketing
