GROUNDS KEEPER (Part-Time) #08-030 $13.13 - $15.76
Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, maintains county grounds as assigned. Duties include general and specific yard work as the need arises. Applies lawn chemical substances, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers requiring the Michigan applications licenses 3A and 3B. Performs the majority of the work assignments in an outdoor setting. Plants shrubs, trees and flowers. Operates various types of power equipment and hand tools for lawn care, snow removal and yard maintenance. Responsible for upkeep of grounds machinery and equipment. Responsible for maintenance of irrigation system and equipment. Maintains records of applications of lawn chemicals. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions: With or without accommodations, must be of the physical capacity to lift various objects and weights up to 100 lbs, climb ladders, walk, crawl, bend, stoop, squat and stand frequently. Must be able to push and pull various weights and objects up to 100 lbs. Maintains constant physical activity throughout the day. Must be able to communicate with general public and staff in person and utilizing a standard telephone system. Will be required to safely utilize various hand power tools and pieces of heavy equipment for mowing, snow removal, and other routine operations. Must be legally able to operate county vehicles. Possession of Michigan Chemical Applications licenses 3A and 3B highly desired and will be required to obtain in the course of employment. Must be able to pass a jail security clearance.
Degree/ Experience: Must be a high school graduate or have equivalent education. 1 to 2 years related grounds maintenance experience with lawn chemical application experience required. Must become a certified pesticide applicator. Michigan Chemical Applications Licenses and experience in categories of 3A and 3B preferred and required within the first six (6) months of employment. Driving records will be checked as part of the referral process. You must be able to meet the standards of the Ingham County Driving Records Policy for referral. . Must submit a cover letter, resume and copies of your Chemical Applications Licenses with your application.
