SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR – PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO SYSTEM (PSRS) #08-037
(PART-TIME = 20 HRS./WEEK) $17.87/hr - $21.46/hr.
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Controller’s Office this position assists in the administration and operation of the Public Safety Radio System (PSRS) and oversees the day-to-day aspects of the computerized and non-computerized equipment. Serves as the single point of contact for the PSRS. Maintains responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of all technical and operating equipment associated with the System. The system administrator is responsible for the over all operation of the radio system and is to act as the single point of contact for end users and all system vendors. Facilitates the system operations and device management, changes to all radios regarding talk groups and configuration are to be coordinated through the system administrator with prior approval of the Governance Committee. This includes working with the Governance Committee with the on-going development and management of the system fleet mapping. Administers policy on all requests to add additional devices or radios to the system must be coordinated through the system administrator. This would include additional radios for all agencies currently participating in the system. The system administrator will take those requests to the Governance Committee. Monthly status reports to be given to the 9-1-1 Advisory Committee that identifies all actions, issues, changes, system outages, etc. Performs the inspection of each transmit and receive site on a weekly basis to ensure site security and notify the owner of vendors responsible for that site. Ensures that the emergency general fuel supplies are adequate and arrange to have those needs meet as required.

The employee is frequently required to review and produce written and electronic documents and computer files. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items of light to moderate weight. The employee is frequently required to travel to other locations within and outside of the County. The employee is often required to attend meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in other areas of the County both in and outdoors, as well as in inclement weather. The employee regularly works in a business office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Degree/Experience: High school graduation or equivalent with advanced coursework or training in telecommunications including 911 equipment, familiarity and maintenance. Two years of experience with operation of computers, radio and telecommunications systems, including trunked radio systems and providing knowledge of police, fire or EMS operations. Prefer experience with a 400 EDACS Radio System. Must pass a Sheriff’s Office Security Clearance.
