Foster Care Services
(Long-term Objective: Foster Appropriate Youth Development)
The Child Care Fund provides for delinquent youth placement in foster care, relative care, independent living or private institutions.
Statewards
(Long-term Objective: Provide Appropriate Sanctions)
The Stateward Chargeback provides funding for placement costs of delinquent and permanent neglect wards who have been committed to the State Family Independence Agency.
Juvenile Detention Facility
(Long-term Objective: Provide Appropriate Sanctions)
The Child Care Fund provides funding for the operational costs of the 24 bed Youth Center and one 6 bed group home.
In-Home Care
(Long-term Objective: Foster Appropriate Youth Development)
The Child Care Fund provides funding for In-Home Care Programs. The goal of the Intensive Probation Services Program is to provide intensive probationary supervision and counseling for juveniles. The goal of the In-Home Detention Program is to first reduce the number of days of care for juveniles in secure detentions, and second to reduce the average length of stay in secure detention.
Judicial Services
(Long-term Objective: Assure Judicial Processing)
The Probate Court provides support staff for two judges. Personnel administration, preparation, presentation, implementation and monitoring the court budget are also services of the court.
Delinquent/Neglect Treatment
(Long-term Objective: Foster Appropriate Youth Development)
The Court develops and implements treatment programs for delinquent court wards and neglect or abuse court wards who are placed in their parent's custody, and provides ongoing supervision and support for these youths and their families. The Court inspects, certifies and rectifies foster and group homes. The Court operates several volunteer programs including Volunteer Probation Officers, Community Services Programs and a tutoring program.
Delinquent/Neglect Proceedings
(Long-term Objective: Assure Judicial Processing)
The Chief Referee conducts preliminary, pre-trial, and non-contested delinquency and neglect hearings and review. The Traffic/Reimbursement Officer meets with all families to implement and ensure follow-through on a reimbursement plan developed by going over their financial statement and budget. The Court Recorders record hearings for the referees, probate register and visitation judges.
