Explorer Post 133
Explorer Post 133, which is sponsored by the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, is a division of the Boy Scouts of America. It provides youth, ages 14-21 years old, with an opportunity to “explore” a future career in law enforcement. Meetings are held at the Sheriff’s Office the first and third Wednesday of each month. Throughout the year, members train to compete in the annual Explorer State Competition in the following categories:
- Domestic Violence
- Crime Scene Investigation
- Felony Traffic Stops
- Building Search
- Accident Investigation
During the summer months, Explorers attend the Michigan law Enforcement Youth Training Academy, a seven day mock police academy. They also participate in community events, such as the Ingham County Fair and the Child ID program. In the fall, the Explorers host and compete with other Explorer Posts from across the state in the Battle of Badges Paintball Tournament.
