The Medical Department at the Ingham County Correctional Facility provides health care to the inmate population. The department is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, which ensures that quality health care is delivered and maintained. Staffing includes one physician, one nurse practitioner, four nurses and one dentist, with hours of operation from 0800 - 0130 Monday through Friday. Health concerns of both a chronic and acute nature are addressed during an individual’s incarceration.
The Medical Department has over 4,000 inmate contacts per year, coordinating continuing care with community health care providers, as well as initiating treatment plans in the jail.
