Juvenile Justice Community Agency Funding Available

Ingham County announces that the 2013 Juvenile Justice Community Agency grant application process has begun.  Ingham County will provide financial support to community agencies that are primarily non-profit organizations.

The Board of Commissioners reserves a small portion of the Juvenile Justice Millage proceeds ($100,000) to further the goals and objectives of the County’s Juvenile Justice Millage.  The grant awards are from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013.

The 2013 Juvenile Justice Community Agency grant process will support the Board of Commissioners’ intent of seeking proposals from qualified vendors to increase the capacity of the county juvenile justice system for the treatment of delinquent and disturbed youth, with the intent to reduce the involvement of youth in the formal adjudication process.

Priority consideration will be given to those proposals which most appropriately meet the adopted Ingham County Continuum of Care Model as well as those proposals that leverage other sources of funds.  The Juvenile Justice Community Agency Grant process will begin with an application for the agency to fill out that is due by August 24, 2012, 5:00 p.m.  The applications are reviewed by County staff and legal counsel to make sure they meet the County objectives and legal restrictions on public funds. This Juvenile Justice Community Agency Grant allocation process will be reviewed by the Board of Commissioners’ Judiciary and Finance Committees and onto the full Ingham County Board of Commissioners for approval through a County resolution.

In 2013, approximately $100,000 was made available to local organizations and agencies in support of the Board of Commissioners’ resolution to continue the Juvenile Justice Community Agency Process.
