This center provides a variety
of services for both adults and youth. It is located in the
Human Services Building at the corner of Jolly and Cedar Streets in
South Lansing.
Adult Health Clinic - (517) 887-4302
The Adult Health Team mission is to:
- Serve client needs confidentially with dignity and respect.
- Provide scheduled appointments and services with as little waiting time as possible.
- Provide support to clients to maintain healthy lifestyles.
- Make access to health care a reality to adults in the community.
The clinic provides primary
care for adults. This includes:
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic - (517) 887-4424
The STD clinic is located within the Adult Health Clinic. We provide the following services by appointment (hours vary, please call for information):
- Anonymous HIV Testing - No identification is required.
- Confidential Testing
- Complete STD screening
All information is kept confidential.
Dental Clinic - (517) 887-4423
The Adult Dental Clinic is located within the Adult Health
Clinic. They provide preventive and restorative treatment for
low income Ingham County residents.
Child Health Services - (517) 887-4305
The child health clinic provides primary care for children through
the age of 18. Services include:
- Well-child health maintenance exams
- Treatment of acute and chronic problems
- Referral when needed to specialists
- Health screening assessments and lab tests for refugee children who are new arrivals to the Unites
States
The clinic staff is a
multi-disciplinary team composed of technicians, registered nurses,
nurse assessors, a nutritionist, social worker, and physician.
The physicians are provided by the Michigan State University School
of Osteopathic Medicine.
Vision and Hearing Screening - (517) 887-4500
The goal of the vision program is to promote eye health of children
and the general population through prevention, identification,
treatment and health education. The goal of the hearing
program is to prevent childhood hearing loss. The technicians
refer children who do not pass the tests to physicians or
optometrists. The vision and hearing screenings are provided
to all school-aged children through their schools.
Home-schooled children and pre-schoolers are also eligible, but must
contact program staff directly. (See directory)

Women's Health Services - (517) 887-4320
Women's Health Services provides access to a comprehensive range of
health services to low income women in Ingham County. Services include:
- Primary Care
- Prenatal Care
- Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program
- WiseWomen
- Family Planning
- Maternal Support Services
Team members in Women's Health
include social workers, nutritionists, nurse practitioners, and
physicians.
Maternal-Infant
Outreach Program - (517) 887-4322
This program began in 1989 to
promote access to prenatal care and prevent infant mortality with
high risk pregnant mothers. It is part of the Public Health
Nursing program. Support is offered to moms in their homes,
and provides them transportation help to medical appointments if
necessary. The program also links new moms to many resources
within the community.
Children's Special
Health Care Services - (517) 887-4309
This unit provides
coordinated care for children with special needs. They arrange
for care in the home, in the office, or in a community
setting. CSHCS provides services for a broad range of
disorders and disabilities.
Public Health
Nursing - (517) 887-4322
Public health nurses continue
to provide a variety of services and activities within the
community. Services are provided to individuals, families, and
groups in homes, clinics, schools, and other community
settings. Nutrition information, blood pressure screenings,
and general health assessments are some of the services provided by
the PHN staff. Other services include:

Immunization
Clinic (517) 887-4316
The immunization department
is charged with protecting the public health from
vaccine-preventable diseases. This goal is accomplished by: - Holding routine walk-in clinics on a daily basis
- Assure that financial hardship is not a barrier to immunization
- Keeping the Michigan Childhood Immunization Registry (MCIR) up-to-date
- Educating private providers on the most up-to-date information on immunization practices,
and vaccine storage practices
- Conducting mass immunization clinics each fall
- Providing international travelers with health information and vaccines
- Regional coordination of smallpox vaccination training and smallpox vaccination clinics.
Women's, Infants,
and Children (WIC) Program - (517) 887-4326
The WIC program if a federal
food and nutrition program that acts as an adjunct to prenatal and
pediatric health care. The goal of WIC is to eliminate nutritional
deficiency as a contributing factor in neonatal death, low birth
weight, and other significant health problems of children and
pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. Eligible women and children
recieve nutritious foods to supplement and improve diet. These
foods may include specific infant formulas, milk, hot and cold
cereals, cheese, eggs, juice, peanut butter, and dry beans and
peas. Nutrition education and counseling are also offered to
clients.
