Upcoming Pre-Service Orientation (PSO):

November TBA 2010

This spring's PSOs will most likely be held in Chicago, IL for four days, of which on the fourth, VISTA members are sworn in as civil volunteers. During this training period, VISTAs will learn about AmeriCorps, poverty, service, themselves and each other. They are expected to attend scheduled workshops and all meals are provided for. If their supervisor is new to the program they will also join the VISTA in travel but attend different workshops. An applicant may choose their preferred method of transportation (at no cost to them or the organization) for traveling to PSO and hotel accommodations. At any time the potential VISTA has the option of deciding VISTA service is not for them and will receive transportation home at no cost.

Following the PSO, a Continued Development Training (CDT) is offered by the Corporation for National and Community Service to provide further skills, updates and to re-connect with VISTA members after the PSO. The next CDT offered will be about three months following PSO, and likely held in Ypsilanti for those VISTA members who began their service in April 2010. Please click the agenda for example details.

As soon as the MI CNCS Office notifies us of PSO dates we will post them immediately.
